A dealer button is used to get the game started. The first player left of the button is the small blind ($1) and the next player is the big blind ($2). This is an initial amount to get the betting started.
The shuffle machine does the shuffling of a standard 52 deck.
Each player is dealt two cards face down. These are called your hole cards.
Then there is a round of betting starting with the player to the left of the two players who posted the blinds. This round is usually referred to as the pre-flop.
The amount a player can bet is $2 to $5. (no more than 3 raises per round). At heads up play, at $5 at a time, players can bet with no limit to the amount of times they bet.
After the betting round ends, the dealer discards the top card of the deck. This is called a burn card.
The dealer then turns the next three cards face up on the table. These cards are called the flop. These are community cards that anyone can use in combination with their two pocket cards to form a five card poker hand.
There is another round of betting starting with the first player to the left of the button with cards.
After the betting concludes, the dealer burns another card and turns one more onto the table. This is called the turn card or fourth street.
Another betting round occurs, starting with the first player left of the button with cards.
Finally the dealer burns the card and places the 5th community card face up on the table. This is called the river card or fifth street. Players can now use any of the five cards on the table or the two cards in their hand to form a five card poker hand.
There is one final round of betting starting with the player to the left of the button with cards.
After that, all of the players reveal their hands. This begins with the player that last showed strength in the hand. This is called the showdown. Players use a combination of their card and the community cards to form a five card poker hand. Or, play the board without using their two hole cards.
The player who shows the best hand wins the pot. There are cases where players with equal hands share the winnings.
